Deeds and Other Documents: 1850-1862
Whooping Crane (of course, they were not tagged and banded back then!)
This page is divided into two parts. The first contains seven links to the deeds that we found related to the sale of the land within the Musquiz Grant that Thomas Haynes apparently considered to be surplus; that is, not needed as part of the Haynes place. The first four of these sales were made soon after Haynes acquired his portion of the Musquiz grant, but the last two did not occur until 1857 and 1862.
The two links in the second part are related to the gift of 1,280 acres of Haynes place land by Thomas Haynes to his oldest son, Daniel, son of Thomas's first wife, Emma Henry Haynes, who died in western Kentucky when Daniel was a boy. The gift was essentially a settlement of the estate of Daniel's mother. But Daniel apparently had plans for things other than being a farmer/rancher in Jackson County. Three years later, he sold the land back to Celia Ann and moved on to other very successful ventures.
Please see the Introduction page for a description of the notation used here to identify to source of each document.
