The following list of events covers things from the birth of Thomas Haynes in Tennessee, Emma Henry in Kentucky, and Celia Ann Webb in Louisiana, to the original Mexican land grant to Ramon Musquiz in what is now Jackson County, Texas, and proceeding until about 1850, at which time Thomas Haynes had acquired much of the Musquiz Grant land and had moved his family to the Haynes place.

1820 Celia Ann Webb, Thomas's second wife, is born in East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana
1821 Mexico wins independence from Spain
1824 Mexico grants permission for Martin de Leon to establish a colony in South Texas
1827 Thomas Haynes and Emma Henry are married in Christian County, Kentucky
1828 Daniel Haynes, Thomas and Emma's first child, is born in Princeton, Caldwell County, Kentucky
1829 Martin de Leon grants eleven leagues to Ramon Musquiz
1832 Surveyor Jose M. J. Carvajal surveys 5½ leagues for Musquiz between the Lavaca and the Garcitas
1832 Sally E. Haynes, Thomas and Emma's second child, is born in Caldwell County, Kentucky
1833 Ramon Musquiz is granted 5½ leagues of land by the Mexican state of Coahuila and Texas
1834 Henry Haynes, Thomas and Emma's third child, is born in Kentucky
