Summary of Musquiz Grant Land Transactions by the Thomas Haynes Family
The trade of what she thought was the final 138 acre piece of Musquiz Grant land by Celia Haynes was the last transaction involving land outside the Haynes place proper, so this is an appropriate place to check to see how Thomas Haynes and his family came out financially on the basis of Musquiz Grant land purchases and sales only.

The Land in the Ramon Musquiz Grant
So after paying $55.07 for the land in the Musquiz Grant in 1848 and then having to pay $1,900 to Glenn for more land, Thomas Haynes eventually received a payoff of $3,375. However, the “sale” of the “forks tract” (F) to the Schneider estate was not really a sale, but an enticement for them to pay a debt it owed Thomas, so that $2,124 probably should not be counted, reducing the total to $1,251. (However, that debt may have never been paid if not for the inclusion of the land.) But overall, Thomas and his family came out far ahead, winding up with about 4,000 acres of land at no cost. Thomas also had many other land transactions in Jackson County outside the Musquiz Grant that were also very profitable.
