Book D, Page 178 Thomas Haynes Sells 200 Acres to Thomas G. Bankhead

This indenture made and entered into the 19th day of July 1851, between Thomas Haynes of the one part and Thomas G. Bankhead of the other part, WITNESSETH: that in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars ($100) to him in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, that said Haynes hath this day and does by these presents bargain, sell, and convey unto the said Bankhead two hundred (200) acres of land situated in the County of Jackson, being a part of five and one-half leagues of land granted Ramon Musquiz on the Lavaca River, and the said two hundred acres are bounded as follows:
Beginning at two large live oaks standing near the corner of said Bankhead’s fence and near the bank of Venado creek, marked T.G.B.;
Thence down said creek (east side) to the mouth of the first ravine;
Thence east five hundred (500) yards;
Thence at right angles for quantity.
To have and to hold the said described tract of land with the appurtenances to the said Bankhead, his heirs and assigns forever, and the said Haynes for himself, his heirs and assigns forever, doth covenant and agree to warrant and defend the title of the said land with the appurtenances against himself and all others forever, by these presents. In testimony whereof the said Haynes hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year aforesaid.

I, George R. Billups Clerk of the County Court do hereby certify that Thomas Haynes personally appeared before me and acknowledged that he signed the within deed for the uses and purposes therein set forth. Given under my hand and seal of office this 19 July 1851
